Anyone have any experience with these?
What did you think?

We've sold some. They seem to be good quality. If you want a large surface-area platform, these may be the way to go. I'm leery of the contouring that might make them less usable with some types of shoes and/or they may cause the foot position on the pedal to be effectively fixed. I agree with some things Grant has written that there is benefit to allowing the foot to subconsciously move around on the pedal.

I've got a pair on my Bike Friday NWT and they work pretty well. I've done long rides (75+ miles) with no ill effect. They are pretty good in wet weather though I've still slipped from time to time (though not as often I think).

I don't find that they completely keep my feet in one position as there's still a bit of play. In addition I ride in sandals so I can slide my feet around in them a bit as well too. I'm good with that because with old knees I need to change my position from time to time (one reason I don't use clips or clipless systems).

I haven't put them on my Quickbeam because - well, quite frankly, I think they'd look hideous and don't offer such a major improvement over my usual Grip Kings that I think I'd be gaining that much.  My Friday is already odd looking enough that these don't detract.

Aloha,

Bob

I put a set of these on my Long Haul Trucker and like them very much.
I cannot stand dedicated biking shoes and pedals, and I had too much
overlap with the front fender when using toe clips and touring
pedals.

I tried powergrips, free touring pedals, and almost pulled the trigger
on some Gripkings before buying the Ergons. I haven't spent an entire
season on them yet but so far so good!

Kent Peterson has had them since quite early, and IIRC was going to
post about them after he'd had some time on them. His climate & use
will give them the stress test, so it shouldn't be long before we know
how they do in really wet winter conditions. If they survive a year
in the Pacific Northwest, they should be good to go for at least 5X
that long in a less demanding climate. Not sure if constant rain or
snow is harder on stuff like that. At least you can brush off snow.

It's not the snow, but the salt, sand, and whatever other chemicals
there that muck up pedals. My Grip Kings are about half full of stuff
from this and last year's winter. Can't seem to get some of it out no
matter how much I poke and prod.

Been really tempted on the Ergons for that reason. Just not sure how
well it would play with my winter boots.

Skate deck tape works pretty well in wet conditions so maybe these pedals will too. Grip Kings do not. So far only one thing works for me in rain: clip less pedals. Gasp!

I have a pair on my fixed gear. I don't have any long rides on them
yet but so far they seem comfortable. I wear thin-soled Soft Star
shoes. Compared with Grip Kings, the Ergons have more comfortable
positions. The Grip Kings have a depression over the spindle which I
find uncomfortable unless I put my arch over the depression. The
Ergons are comfortable in the "Ergon-omic" position of ball-over-pedal
spindle but also comfortable with the foot further forward.

Don't get me wrong, I like the Grip Kings and do have long rides on
them, but I think that I'll like the Ergons more.
