And you'll see me, on a black Randonneuse, either the Velo Orange or the
MAP, haven't decided which yet. I'll be on the new route.

Cool, and in California on the same day, we'll be doing a ride in San Clemente that will probably have a few Rivendells.

Sorry I won't be joining this year, I've done it a couple of times years ago.  One of my goals is to do it again.  Rivish this time, of course!  Steve

My parents live in Berlin, MD, not too far from there. Can't make it
this year but I will put it on my calendar for '12 for my Sam and I.
Are there hills in Salisbury? Where my parents live it is flat, flat,
flat! I suppose the whole Del-Mar-Va peninsula is pretty sedate in the
vertical relm. Not a bad thing. Just wondering how the route is there.
Have a great ride!

Flat, flat, flat pretty much sums it up. The "old route" (Assateague
Century) goes to Assateague Island, so there's a climb up the bridge to
the island. The "new route" (Snow Hill century)doesn't, so presumably
it should have substantially less elevation change.

As you say, the whole DelMarVa peninsula is pretty flat, but DC
Randonneurs' "Flatbread 200km" route from Centreville to Slaughter Beach
http://ridewithgps.com/trips/5466 has 1712 feet of climbing in 128 mi,
while my Easton/Oxford/Tilghman Island Permanent Poppulaire at 86 miles
has only 700 feet of climbing.

I'll me riding with my dad.  He's going to be on a Long Haul Trucker, and I'll be on my orange Quickbeam.  It looks like we may see some nice weather!  Of course now that I said that we can expect a monsoon.

I'll be doing the classic Assateague route.  I think this will be my third time riding the quickbeam for Seagull.  I haven't ridden in a month or two since I have been at school so my goal is just to finish.   See you guys there.

Thanks for the info Steve. I've been missing out for sure! I will
definitely be doing it in 2012. It's really beautiful there.
Especially this time of the year "in the off season" as they say: down
the shore. Sounds like good Riv representation this year too..

Perhaps even a majority if I'm counting correctly!

I'm afraid your methodology is in error. There will be upwards of 6,000
people at the Seagull, and all but a few hundred at most will be on
carbon fiber racing bikes. Even when it rains (which in my experience
is something like 80-90% of the time) only a few dozen at most will have
fenders.
