Hi, all.

If I start with a full set of Shimano bar-ends shifters (SL-BS64 "Ultegra" 8-speeds, if it matters), use what's needed to mount the shifters themselves on Paul Thumbies and put them in service, I'm left with *some* Shimano bar-end-mount-oriented stuff.

Is that left-over Shimano stuff, combined with a new set of Silver down-tube shifters, enough to form a complete and correct set of bar-end-mounted Silver shifters?

If so, cool. If not, what else do I need (or need to do)?

If need be, I can take pictures of the actual left-over Shimano stuff. And RBW has thoughtfully provided detailed pictures of the full Silver shifter down-tube kit. But my first thought is that surely someone else has already gone through this and just knows.

Thanks for any info!

Yours,

the one and only piece you will be missing is the flat steel washer part with the large square hole in it.  That piece comes with the barcon adapters that Riv sells.  The equivalent piece that comes with the Silver downtube shifters has the large square hole, but it isn't flat and round.  It has that tab that acts as a travel stop which you need when mounted downtube style.  You can file it off, making it into the flat round thing you need.  Or you can ask Riv to sell a pair to you separately.  The part is in the pictures for this product:

It's easy to file that tab off.

Ah-ha!

I understand completely. That makes perfect sense.

Thanks so much!
