So I just had a wonderful trade experience from the board but it has produced some now redundant items in my stash.

In receiving a B17 Pre-aged that I absolutely LOVE...it displaced a lightly used B17 Honey Champion Special. SO...what I would love to do is trade this straight up for the same exact saddle in Black. (Trying to break my Honey habit!)

And due to some response from my watercolor painting of Jay's bike - I wanted to see if anyone would be up for a painting of their bike in trade for a Nitto Noodle?

Also, I have a unique track bike offering. I know there are a bunch of singlespeeders here so this may be of interest. I'll list the obvious points and leave it at that. Contact if interested.
-Maruishi Japanese track bike 57x57 c-c
-Set up as a singlespeed with campy brakes front and rear.
-27" converted wheels with fatty 1 1/4" tires (could maybe go to 1 1/2 - 32ish?)
-$400 frame, fork, HS, Post
-$600 as shown
-Add appropriate shipping to wherever you are.

Thanks!
Brad

WOW! So I have a set if Noodles secured!

But have also had additional interest...so I'll open it up. If someone wants a painting of their bike I would be happy to barter rivish stuff. Like any self respecting bike geek, there is always a wish list of fun stuff. Fat Schwalbes for the Hilsen, marks bag, musa, etc.

I think you could seriously make this into a little hobby business.  That Jay water-color was awesome.  You should assemble a portfolio and then open an etsy store for custom commissions.

I also was impressed by the quality of the watercolor and hope you
don't limit your talent to bicycles. Here in NM, "art" is a minor big
business with the result that the studios and arcades and markets are
full of abominable southwestern drek (as well as some well done
things) so it is refreshing to see real talent and imagination. I'd be
interested to see more of your work

William,

Thanks! I have been selling art to some capacity for 30 years. Sometimes it's my job, other times it's my therapy. You are not the first to suggest etsy, and embarrassingly I have never dug into it to see what it's about. Maybe it's time....?

I think 'watercolour bike portraits' could be a niche market.  Imagine the horror that most of us feel when a loved one tries to buy us a bike item.  It's almost unthinkable.  But this is something that my wife could photograph one of my Riv's, send you the photo and $50 and get back a frameable piece of OOAK art that I'd love.  Heck, I'd probably hang the painting of Jay's bike in my house, and it's not even my bike.  Imagine if you traded Riv bike portraits in exchange for $50 Riv gift certificates.  You'd have yourself a free frameset in no time!

Patrick,

Thank you too! I paint/draw/sculpt etc anything and everything. Since I was in a high chair, art has been my best form of communication. I can't not do it.

As for galleries and such...yea, sometimes what passes for art is beyond me. But then again some of it sells for big bucks too. I have been asked a few times to do large south westerny kind of paintings, but have only accepted one such job. They loved it, but to me it was horrible.

Art school taught me how to hone my craft and do the realistic interpretations of things...but once I got out, I chose to create more colorfully and try to capture the imagery in my head. For better or worse.

My website was last updated just before my daughter was born in 07. Since then most all my work has been commissions from previous sales and random art shows I enter. Not much recent work has made it to the site. But it still has a pretty good sampling of what I do.

THAT is a solid idea. Maybe I could work in some double duty for something like $60. $50 to me, $3-4? to cover proper (safe non-bendable) shipping, and remaining $5-7 to donate to Rivendell for their charity pools that they run?

hmmmm....

I've already informed a couple of my friends' wives of the potential for a Christmas present.  I'm contemplating which bag configuration to set up the Bombadil in for photographing.

Excellent and brilliant. I think your paintings are well worth $60.
Make sure to scan them at hi-res for later - you could probably sell
postcard packs, or prints from them. My feeling is that prints sell
more easily, but I haven't tested that theory.

Etsy is pretty easy to navigate, but like any venture, it doesn't
manage or promote itself.

Good luck!
Philip
