Three Riv bikes completed the Santa Rosa Cycling Club's 600k brevet
last weekend.

Some quick notes of interest:

1. SP PV-8 dynamo hub worked flawlessly and is half the price of a
Schmidt dynamo hub and specs similarly.
2. Pari Moto 38 mm 650b tires worked great with no flats despite flat
tires all around (luck is a big factor)
3. Rivet Pearl saddle was great and saved my butt.
4. My new AHH is awesome!

The long and rambling story is here:

Toshi, yeah, great write up and congrats on finishing the 600k. I
guess you earned your SR with that ride. Any more randonneuring plans
for the year?

Glad you're enjoying your Hilsen. It's a great bike for brevet riding.

Last weekend I finally made it across the border to ride with Seattle
International Randonneurs (SIR) on their Olympic Peninsula 600k. It
was a fantastic ride with incredible support at the SIR staffed
controls (1 each day with an overnight control). As usual, I rode the
first 100k way too fast and paid for that with cramps which eventually
subsided. Managed to get into the overnight control at 10:45pm and
asleep by 11:30 which allowed me a nice 5hrs sleep. I've come to terms
with the fact that I'm not willing or probably even able to ride
straight through. Besides, why not break it up into 2 nice long days
of cycling? The second day went well with no cramps and I felt really
strong through the entire ride. My Bryant randonneur worked well and I
feel pretty well prepared for the Cascade 1200k at the end of the
month. Here are some pictures:

Congratulations, and nice write-up! I know some people swear by hammer gel, but it's always disagreed with me and I have a tough stomach. I've used Gu without problems, other than the horrid taste. I just stay away from gels; I use bars and drinks some times, but mostly try to stay with real food. Allen Lim's rice cakes are really good.
