I wrote down my loose plan for the Midwest Riv Rally. I'm not much for micromanaging herds of cats or groups of cyclists. My general approach to larger group rides is that it's an semi-cohesive association of self-responsible individuals. If you have to come or go at a different time or you can only eat certain types of food or can only stay at hotels that take Diner's Club or whatever, that's cool, but please make the necessary arrangements yourself. Also, be advised that a general fitness guideline is the ability to ride 50-ish somewhat hilly miles in a day, on two consecutive days. You don't have to be fast by any means, but you do have to cover the distance without being miserable and/or dying. Misery and/or death are the opposite of what we want.

That's an organizational goal I can get behind!

Clearly an un-racer-ish approach to bicycle riding.
Mr. Thill is on a roll - so to speak.
Will there be any 'Campy smelling' going on?

Campy-sniffing will be permitted, but please ask for consent, and try not to be conspicuously giddy about it. Low-key, casual sniffing recommended.

it may be early to pin down schedules this early, but it would be nice to get some idea of who is coming. I'm sure a head-count, even if approximate, would be useful. No need to inform me if you're on the fence, but if you're reasonably sure that you're attending, I'd like to start a list. If you can email me off list, I will have contact info. Since its almost 4 months off, you have time to ponder.

Great plan Jim. 1 Riv + Slow Rider planning to attend. No distance iobjectionable. Okay, under 50 miles could be objectionable. Sounds too fun for less.
