Hi all, small break from all the for sale ads (mine's coming soon!).
I'm re-doing the cockpit on my green quickbeam and i'm looking for bar
tape suggestions. Grips will be a dark walnut wood, but i can't
decide on what color tape for the curved section of the alba bar.
levers are suntour black bodies with silver blades.

Anyone have any interesting ideas? I really like the newbaums lt.
blue tape on my orange hillborne--which i didn't expect to like, so
asking for out of the box thinking. I can do the default brown, but
that will be a lot of brown....

The execution is poor, but I like this color combo. http://www.flickr.com/photos/37542512@N04/5645451069/in/set-72157626433454817

Contrast on the color wheel says Neubaums bright red with garnet
shellac, or maybe the purple with a lighter shellac. Think something
the color of a nice cabernet.

Trust the color wheel, it is usually right.

rperks is probably right-    but it's hard to say which color to use, without high-resolution, pornographic photos of the bike posing suggestively (scantily clad in tape of various potential colors if possible, though classic nude would do just fine)

Of coursre, it might be best if you donned a creepy glue-on moustache while taking said photos.

LOL, thanks for the laugh this morning, i still need to do some
sanding on the wood grips before i refinish them, but once i'm ready
i'll come back with a few pictures for input--however i threw away my
last glue-on moustache recently.

Rob, thanks i never thought of cabernet as complimentary but think it
would look nice with the grips. but i have to think about how to do
it, as a general rule i don't like to shellac my cotton tape--i love
the look, i don't like the feel, but i might try it since this would
be a secondary position on the bars.

Hi Minh,

I just wrapped the bars on my green Quickbeam with green Newbaum's
(and black). I like it. The other Newbaum's tape I've used has faded
rapidly (in days), so I might shellac for UV protection, but I'm not a
fan of the feel of it either.

For those of you with a prurient turn of mind, there's a half-dressed
bar tape image in the blog header...

ok, got the new grips on, holy cow there's a lot of open space on these albatross bars.  will a dark shellacked purple work with these?http://flic.kr/p/aEbdmd
