Hello all,

I am looking to make the switch to wool. Looking for light-weight,
traditional shorts and jerseys. Would prefer the shorts to have thin/
light padding. Have to be available is smallish sizes. Thanks for the
help.

Woolistic lightweight ss jersey works well. Smartwool and Icebreaker
t-shirts are tough to beat in the heat... but they're just t-shirts in
the best sense.

The wool shirts on Rivendell's website under "specials" are good.
Been wearing mine in temps to the mid-80's. Otherwise, the Smartwool
and Icebreaker stuff is pretty lightweight. The larger sizes fit me
well.

No idea on shorts, though. I end up with MUSA shorts with REI pads
underneath.

I 2nd the Ibex input, especially the Indie model. I find them lighter weight and cooler in warm weather than the Woolistic models myself.

Brian. NYC just had a big heatwave pass through last week. I was riding the Riv wool t-shirt w. the back pocket in the web specials section of their site. The tee is is very well made. I found it to be a bit heavy for the high temps and humidity in this area. The Smartwool microweight t shirts work better for the type of weather I just described. Best to have different weights and layer.

Well yeah, at a $175 it'd better be good!!!

How about something at a price point for the other 95% of us?

Wool is expensive, the rapha jersey is only a bit more than the ibex ones.  It's worth the premium though.  (Living in Vermont, I have the benefit of going to the ibex tent sale, where I can pick up the year's wool on the cheap).

The 17.5 micron ibex shirts are my favorite for super hot weather.

It's pretty common to find Ibex, Icebreaker and Smartwool stuff on sale with a bit of patience.
Probably easier in August!
Ibex quality is great, but their sizing and cut is often a bit odd, so it's important to try before you buy if possible.

hmmm, for my body shape the Ibex jerseys fit the best of all wool jerseys I've tried. They run trim in the waist area so if you're a little Large in that area then I'd look elsewhere. I think they fit the most like conventional (synthetic) jerseys of all I've tried.
