My QB is my do everything bike so I like these pedals because it does not matter what shoes I am wearing, I can ride.  One problem, I have a clicking sound when I am climbing hard.  I have tightened the crank arms and replaced the bottom bracket and neither fixed the problem.  I have also greased and tightened the pedals in the cranks also with no results.

I am currently 220lbs.  I don't hear the click when riding on the flats, I don't hear it if I am out of the saddle and climbing at a fast cadence.  I do hear it when I am climbing a steep hill at a slow cadence.  I can also get the click to happen if I am spinning on the flats and then just stand and put all y weight on the pedals.  I can't do this consistently enough to get it to happen when I am at the bike shop.

Questions:  Has anyone else experienced this with these pedals?  Does anyone know if these pedals can be adjusted?

Thanks

Larry Powers

Maybe it's a dumb quesiton, but have you tried different pedals? Just
to verify the clicking is coming from the pedals?

I have had the same issue from time to time. Best thing you can do
is carefully isolate the issue by process of elimination, as you are
doing and as Minh suggested. The last time this happened to me, the
last thing I tried fixed the problem- pulling each of the
chainrings, greasing the chainring-bolt /ring/crank spider interfaces,
and re-assembling everything nice and snug.

Good luck and try not to go nuts :D

I keep not getting to that.  I will do it tonight.

I too once fixed a clicking noise like that by retightening all of the
chainring bolts. It's easy to see how a single loose bolt could cause
that kind of click.

I get clicking on M324s -- nice pedals, btw -- when I get very slight
cleat slippage. I noticed this recently riding two different bikes
both with those pedals in a new pair of shoes: the cleats would slip
very slight and click under power (and only under power, not while
cruising) while they don't when wearing other shoes. I have to yank up
considerably before I hear the noise.

FWIW ...

I have contemplated the possibility that this was the cleat/pedal interface clicking.  I have tried holding my feet in different positions without much luck.  I also can't tell if it occurs when my right foot is fully weighting the pedal or when the left foot is completely unweighting  its pedal.

I have different pedals on now and will try it tonight to sse if it goes away.  If it does, I need to decide if I want to use the M324's with the click or use a less  versatile pedal.

I did pull these pedals off and replaced them with some A520's. The
click went away so it appears that it was the M324's. But, because I
like the utility of the M324's I decided to put them back on and live
with the click. I have been riding them for two weeks and the click
has not come back. Strange.

I've found that such clicks are often the cleats; with my M324s three
pairs of my shoes did not click but pair #4 did, even after I
tightened the retention springs. FWIW.

Sounds like they were a little loose or a bit lacking in grease on the pedal spindle threads and re-installing them fixed it!  (had the same thing happen to my commuter a while back.)
