The Conversation (http://theconversation.com) is an independent source
of news and analysis, sourced from the academic and research community
and delivered direct to the public.

We have a dev team of 4 working with about 30 editors and thousands of
academics. Our stack is ruby 2.1, rails 4, some sinatra and postgres.
Always Postgres.

For metrics and reporting, we have an internal data warehouse that
sits behind a JSON API. It works brilliantly, but with the volume of
data we have these days it's showing it's age. The core events table
is up to 60 million rows and growing at ~5 million rows per month.

Some API calls are slowing down, some need new filtering options, and
we need to expose some new aggregate data. We're also wondering, what
happens when we hit 150 million events? 200 million?

We're after someone for 4 months to help us get the API and database into shape.

If you're experienced with ruby, sinatra, rspec, postgres, SQL and
large database tables I'd love to hear from you. Experience with
dimensional database schemas (facts, dimensions, etc) would be useful
but not essential.

Rate negotiable, contractors are welcome. We'd prefer someone on site
at our office in Carlton but if you fit the role we can probably work
something out.

There's a slightly dated, but still relevant tour of our content
management system and user visible metrics on youtube:
