Hi All

The Melbourne Ruby meet will be happening this evening, with our usual array of entertaining talks, delicious food, tasty beverages, and delightful company (that’s you!).

WHEN:  Wednesday 24th September, arrive at 6pm for a 6:30pm start, wrapping up around 9pm.
WHERE: Inspire9, Level 1, 41-43 Stewart Street
WHAT:  Speakers, plus socialising, good food (hopefully not pizza) and drinks.

Our line-up this month is:

  * Doug English  - Colour modelling
  * Justin Morris - <TBD>
  * Julian Doherty - Ruby, Concurrency, and Monoids

All of these details are repeated on Meetup, for those who prefer that as their source of event information:
http://www.meetup.com/Ruby-On-Rails-Oceania-Melbourne/events/195632942/

Yet again, food is sponsored by Envato, Lookahead Search and Redbubble, the drinks by Zendesk, and the space by Inspire9.

If you've any questions or thoughts, get in touch - we're looking forward to seeing you all there :)

Excellent talk. Actually all the talks are. Whoever chooses them does a damn fine job.

There's so much more to consider of course (and I'm sure you are doing just that). You're testing the look but not the feel (if I can describe it that way). How does a site respond when you interact with it? Dynamics, responsiveness. Notionally this could be like having reference videos rather than just screen grabs. Not that I'm suggesting you actually work out how to diff videos.

My two-cents-worth...

these both looked like high-quality presentations, would've loved to have seen them live.

Mark;

Doug’s Colour Modelling one would have been right up your alley. It was one of those “AH HA!” moments for a lot of people in the audience, I think.

Anyone lucky enough to be starting a green fields app should at least take a look over the slides. You’ll probably think a bit differently and save making that rod for you own back down the track.
