Meetup HQ in NYC is hiring! http://www.meetup.com/jobs/
Anyone else get sent this? Hey, a Melbourne Ruby group - sounds like a great idea!- Korny
I believe ruby.org.au is a work in progress, which will be really good. The most immediate step, though, is for us to post to rubyonrails.com.au.
Who should I talk to about posting announcements for the Melb meetups?

Ben
I just added the wrong Ben to the org, so I figured I'd follow up and add the Ben's that immediately come to mind. Also, feel free to publicise your membership so that people know who to contact. The repo for rubyonrails.com.au is here:g...@github.com:rails-oceania/rails-oceania.github.com.git
Anyone else want to be added to the rails-oceania org while I'm at it?Cheers,TimOn Tuesday, 21 February 2012 at 14:22, Steven Ringo wrote:
Ben H,
I can give you access to the git repo we use as an interim measure. We took an HTML snapshot of the old site and stuck it in git. We then publish that to github pages. Its not the best, but it works until the new site comes up.
Apparently Ben Schwarz had organised a team of peeps to work on it, and didn't need any more help when it was offered. Perhaps Ben S can give us an update?
Thanks,
Steve

Don't blame him, really.
I google "melbourne ruby group" and I get, in order:
 a defunct mailing list
the rubyonrails.com.au website listing a meetup in 2010
 the rubyonrails.com.au website (again)
a blog post from Evan Bottcher from 2007
Similar results for "melbourne ruby meetup"
Did anybody at RailsCamp end up implementing a new RORO website?

I also used to think the Melbourne Ruby community was lifeless when I saw the web site, luckily for me I knew a Ruby dev who told me about the mailing-list.
FYI other developer community (.net) are equally lax in maintaining their community web-sites, some more than others, so you are in good company; or are you. :-)
For those who aren't aware, Ben and others put their hands up to do this at the most recent Australian Rails Camp, as part of the Ruby Australia discussion/meeting.
Cheers

Having spoken with Ben earlier this week, I know that his team is still aiming to have the site up by mid-March. If this changes, Ben or I will let you know.
Cheers,

I can't wait. I'm sure your work will be achingly beautiful.
