Hi all,

I'm one of the organisers for JSConf Australia. The first JSConf in Australia!

We've been able to book some pretty amazing speakers:
  • Brendan Eich, CTO of Mozilla, Inventor of Javascript
  • Brian Leroux, Phonegap.
  • Alex Sexton, jQuery team member, yepnope.js
and more…

Now, down to the gritty—I've created a coupon code "roro" for you fine ladies and gentlemen.
Supply of tickets (for the coupon code, and in general) are very limited.

So even if you don't manage to get a coupon code ticket, be sure to not spend too long thinking about weather you're going to go or not.
You will miss out. There are only 350 tickets.

To get more details, and use your fancy discount code, head to jsconf.com.au.

Wowzers! Despite all the flack Javascript gets for its little
idiosyncrasies, legend has it that Brendan only had two weeks to
design, build and ship the first version of the language and
interpreter in Netscape.

Much respect! Be nice if someone going there could confirm the legend :)

That'd be the same amount of time Torvalds took to create git.

And about the same amount of time to properly wash my hair.

And doesn't it show! (in both cases…). Just a little more
care and the world would have been much better off.

Actually I have friends who were at Mozilla at the time,
so I could get them to confirm the story. Two weeks is
pretty consistent with the heroic efforts of the time however.
I think the first JS was bootstrapped from a Scheme engine.

I was pretty sure I'd read it in an interview, so started typing "Brendan Eich" into Google and got "Brendan Eich Ten Days" as an autocomplete... anyway, he confirms it himself: "I had to be done in ten days or something worse than JS would have happened"
