Hi all,

It's nearly time for rorosyd again, on Tuesday 12 June, 6:30 for a 7pm start at the Trinity Bar in Surry Hills: http://tinyurl.com/6emfna

Looking for volunteers to talk. We have one talk lined up so far.

Last month I mentioned some topics that I think would be interesting. If anyone has experience with any of these, please raise your hand and come and tell us about it:

  • Fast tests with rails (i.e. testing as much as you can outside rails, so that rails doesn't have to load up for each run)
  • Asset pipeline gotchas. And there are many.
  • Apache Hadoop
  • Real-life usage of JRuby and/or Rubinius and what they offer over MRI (and also what drawbacks they have)
  • Devops stuff like Chef, Puppet and Babushka (which of course is home grown...)
  • Something on erlang.

Please put your name down at https://github.com/rails-oceania/roro/wiki/rorosyd-topics (and also let me know) to reserve a slot.

See you there!

Regards,

Steve

I've missed a few and so have no idea what's been done recently. Has
anyone talked about Ruby Motion? I've been messing around with it the
last two weeks and it's been interesting.

I thought I responded to this, but can't see my reply so forgive me if
I am double posting.

I haven't been to RoRo for a little while so someone may have already
talked about it. But I've been playing with RubyMotion for the last
two weeks and would be happy to talk about my experience with it.

Sorry Ben - for some reason, Google thought your messages were spam, so there was no pending message notifications. (It's a common issue for any emails about Sydney meets, for some reason).
