Envato's mission is to help people to earn and to learn, online.  We
operate marketplaces where hundreds of thousands of people buy and
sell digital goods every day, and a network of educational blogs where
millions learn creative skills.

We're putting together a team to handle the finance and payments
components of the Envato marketplace systems.  This role is primarily
a backend role, with a focus on integration and API work, but we also
expect that you're a pretty comfortable working the full stack.

We'd expect you know how to write well isolated tests, you value
pragmatic design, want to easily deploy to production and care about
writing good software.  That's what we do.  If you're interested in
working at a company that strives for technical excellence, is
relaxed, humane, lets you make decisions and makes products that our
customers love then we'd love to chat with you.  No pressure.

What you'll be doing
--------------------
* Writing clean, well thought out and reliable code to integrate
with our new accounting systems and with external payment
providers - there is a lot of integration and API work in
  this role
* Acquiring finance and payments domain knowledge and an understanding
  of the company's business model
* Providing input into the design of the payment and finance core services
* We don't have testers or sysadmins so you'll be ensuring your
work is production ready and deployed

What We've Got
--------------
* A Great Company
  * We're 6 years old, bootstrapped, profitable, and proud. (We
were even featured in the 37signals series of the same name.)

    From our home page:
Our mission is to help people to earn and to learn, online. We
operate marketplaces where hundreds of thousands of people buy
and sell digital goods every day, and a network of educational
blogs where millions learn creative skills.

* A Great Set of Sites
  * We now have 9 marketplaces, with over a 2.5 million items for
sale, and 2 million users.  Our biggest marketplace is
ThemeForest, which is the clear leader in its space, and has an
Alexa rank of around 200.  Our newest is PhotoDune. It launched
last year, now has a million photos, and is considered a serious
player in the stock photo industry.  Our users are engaged and
passionate. They tell us quick smart on the forums when we do
something well or do it badly.

* A Great Team and Culture
  * We're careful about hiring, and have built a team of great devs.
  * Developers are responsible for features from inception through to
them being in the hands of customers. The devs talk directly to
customers about what they're working on.
  * We do continuous delivery properly: any team member can deploy,
and we regularly do several deploys a day.
  * We publish portions of our code as open source, and contribute
back to open source projects we use.
  * We run weekly retro and education sessions, and constantly
encourage our team to improve their craft.
  * We have a low politics-to-actual-work ratio.

Essential Requirements

To apply email us at tech...@envato.com with the subject line "You
rush a miracle man, you get rotten miracles." and attach your CV, a
(very) short cover letter explaining something about tech or the web
that you're really passionate about, and a link to or zip file of code
samples. A github account full of awesome open source goodness would
be preferable to the zipfile.
