I have a laptop on which I'm installing Qubes 3.1. Actually, I have two, both Lenovo X230 Thinkpads, which run 3.0 fine.
On one, I have gone through the upgrade procedure as outlined on the Qubes website. This seems to have worked, and I'm posting from it now :)
On the other, I've downloaded the 3.1 ISO to a USB and attempted to install it from scratch. This is not working for me.
The problems seem to start with dracut-mount. I'm looking at the log file, and immediately after "Starting dracut mount hook..." I get dozens of error messages saying:
mount:dev/mapper/live-rm is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount:wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/mapper/live-rw
missing codepage or helper or other error
Then it kicks me into the emergency shell.
I'm pretty sure I can get 3.1 working on that laptop, since the exact same error occured when I tried to install 3.1 fresh on _this_ laptop that I'm using now. So I could just install 3.0 again on Other Laptop and upgrade to 3.1 - but I'd like to get the clean install working if possible. The 3.1 ISO was downloaded at the same time as the 3.0 ISO that I'm using, onto an identical USB.
Emergency shell advises me for troubleshooting purposes to mount a usb and copy /run/initramfs/rdsosreport.txt to it but I don't actually know what the command is for that.
In any case, the last 4 lines in the .txt file are:
dracut-mount[800]: Warning: Can't mount root filesystem
systemd[1]: Received SIGRTMIN+20 from PID 574 (plymouthd)
systemd[1]: Starting Dracut Emergency Shell...
systemd[1]: Received SIGRTMIN+21 from PID 574 (plymouthd)
Thanks for any and all suggestions
Emma
