I run my QuadStick FPS (and additional controllers) through x-aim to connect to ps4. This has been working great for months. Now I am having 2 issues.

  • When I plug in everything, the QS does it's flashy lights thing during boot-up, then the left-end light turns solid purple as if everything is connected properly, but within 3-10 seconds, the lights turn off completely and it reboots. This repeats indefinitely.

  • If it does plug in and connect like it's supposed to and I get to the step of turning on the ps4, then the ps4 accepts all of the button presses as it should - but none of the games/apps/etc respond to the button presses.

I have switched usb ports and had the same result. I normally don't need to run the QMP [v3.08], but I did close the CronusMAX application and tried seeing if I could figure it out. QMP states QuadStick flash drive not found.  Any ideas what to try next?

Do you know what firmware version you are running?  There have been dozens of changes since your quadstick was shipped.

Try this:

Reboot the PC.  Do not start CronusPro and leave the CronusMax unplugged.
If Steam is installed, make sure to disable all of its Controller settings (Settings->Controller->General Controller Settings).  Uncheck everything.  "Exit", not just close, Steam.

Check the three things mentioned in the middle of this article:

1) Disable the Selective Suspend feature

do this for every USB root hub device in the hierarchy.

2) Turn off Fast Boot.

3) Disable USB selective suspend feature

There are separate copies of the USB selective suspend feature for every different power scenario: plugged in vs battery power, so you will have to do that one twice.

4) SCF scan

It verifies all the Windows files are correct

5) Updating the drivers.

Both articles mention that so it might be worth trying.

After all those changes, do a restart, since some settings are only read on boot up.

Finally:
Plug in the Quadstick.  Check with Windows Explorer to see if it is present under "This PC".  Back up a copy your quadstick's CSV files to a folder in your Documents folder.

Start QMP and update to the most recent firmware if it is still back at something earlier.

Since you are using X-Aim, make sure to turn off "Enable CronusMax" in the Misc tab of QMP so they don't conflict with each other.

I'll get started on this and I'll let you know the result once I am through it. Thanks so much.

I followed each of the suggested steps in order, simple enough. The QS is certainly staying connected without issue. However, the flash drive is still not found.

I am attaching 4 screenshots/images because I think I see where the problem is, but I have no clue how to fix it. It's like the QS has no flash drive or that it was wiped completely. I even downloaded the QMP to my desktop just to double check that it wasn't a laptop issue and I got the same info shown in "Firmware None".  If you want to see another folder or something, I'll be able to do that.

I think the quadstick flash was formatted by Windows and QMP can no longer find it when searching the drives for the information that identifies it as a Quadstick.

We need to force the Quadstick to reformat its own drive, which is does when the firmware is updated.  Try copying this file into the USB Drive E: and wait for the Quadstick to load the new firmware.

All the CSV files have been deleted so you will need to start with a new set.  I have attached a ZIP file containing the original set of files that were in your Quadstick when it shipped.  You can open the zip file and copy all the files inside into the quadstick.  It will "boing" when it reads them.  Then start QMP and you should see the Quadstick.
