From the Center for Teaching & Learning:

The Center for Teaching & Learning is offering an eight-week hybrid workshop focusing on the development and implementation of hybrid courses (courses that blend online and face-to-face instruction) and fully online courses. Faculty from all academic disciplines are invited to apply by completing this form: http://bit.ly/cfp-teach-online-sp2020.

Please apply no later than January 10, 2020.
Selected participants will be notified by January 24, 2020.

No experience teaching online is necessary, but space is limited to ten participants, so we will give priority to faculty who will teach at least one hybrid or online course in Winter/Spring 2020 and/or Summer/Fall 2020.

For more information: http://ctl.qc.cuny.edu/cfp-teaching-online-spring-2020.

The eight-week workshop will orient participants to online pedagogies, through both face-to-face and online synchronous and asynchronous work.

As participants in this workshop, faculty will:
  1. develop an online or hybrid course that will promote successful learning outcomes and provide a positive learning experience for students;
  2. demonstrate competency in using Blackboard as both learner and instructor;
  3. demonstrate competency in choosing and using digital tools for teaching online;
  4. design effective online learning activities that engage students in the learning process, and support the achievement of intended student learning outcomes;
  5. reflect on being both online learner and teacher;
  6. contribute to in-person and online class discussions about teaching and learning online.
The workshop will include two face-to-face sessions: February 7 and March 6 from 10 am to 3 pm; one synchronous online session: February 21 from 12 noon to 1 pm; and five asynchronous online sessions that will include individual and group work (February 14 and 28; March 13, 20 and 27). Workshop participants will also have access to sustained technical support and pedagogical advice from the Center for Teaching & Learning and receive a copy of the book, Minds Online, by Michelle Miller.

Upon successful completion of this intensive workshop (attendance on the two face-to-face sessions, February 7 and March 6), the online synchronous session (February 21), and completion of at least 90% of the workshop activities, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion and a stipend of $700 (to be paid as a non-teaching adjunct salary; workload restrictions apply).

If your schedule does not allow your full participation in this workshop, you may join our Self-paced Workshop on Strategies for Teaching Online (http://ctl.qc.cuny.edu/self-paced-workshop-strategies-for-teaching-online/): your pace, your schedule.
