Hi all,

We are publishing a 2.1.3.dev2 pre-release, you can find the files on the Test PyPI at:

https://testpypi.python.org/pypi/pymssql

This is mostly a "fix-our-official-windows-wheels" release undoing the changes I had introduced for  the 2.1.2 release back in February to handling of the FreeTDS dependency on Windows. tldr; No DLLs are involved this time and we are back to shipping FreeTDS statically linked.

A nice extra goodie is the fact that we also publish Linux binary wheels now, so installation on such platform should be quick and easy with no compilation involved.

FreeTDS version bundled for both Linux and Windows is 0.95.95.

The full list of changes included since 2.1.2 can be seen here:

https://github.com/pymssql/pymssql/blob/2.1.3-rel-testing/ChangeLog#L4-L28

I'd like to ask you that if you use pymssql please take the time to test and/or give us feedback *before* we cut the actual release so we can ship a reliable and easy to use 2.1.3 release.

That's the main reason we making the extra step of publishing [a] 2.1.3.devX release[s].

One of the reasons of the operational problems people found when installing our official 2.1.2 Windows binaries was precisely the fact no negative feedback was posted after a similar call for help got sent a full /two weeks/ before the actual release. All complaints happened after the release got shipped.

Also, as always, any patch/PR for enhancing our documentation is warmly welcome.

We are also in need of contributors with the expertise on how to build binary wheels for Mac OS X.

Post your feedback here or in form of issues at GitHub
(https://github.com/pymssql/pymssql)

Thanks!

Hi Ramiro.

It's too late for the release now, but I wanted to let you know that I cannot connect to an MS SQL server with the 2.1.3 release.

I'm confident it's a problem with this version, as I am deploying in docker, and toggling the version number of pymssql between 2.1.2 and 2.1.3 is sufficient to trigger the error.

My freetds.conf file lists version 8.0. I tried changing this to 7.1 or 7.3 (without really knowing what I was doing) to no avail.

@@VERSION reports: "Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (SP2-CU8) (KB3082561) - 11.0.5634.1 (X64)".

Feel free to contact me directly if you want/need more details on this.

Nick.
