Pune: It has been seven years since Jangali Maharaj (JM) Road and Fergusson College (FC) Road were made one-way to improve the overall traffic situation on these arterial roads. Despite the one-way traffic movement system being implemented on both these roads, it has neither helped in reducing the traffic congestion nor has it assisted pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. 

Instead, both stretches have become a death trap for pedestrians, especially, senior citizens. At present, the road infrastructure in place is in shambles and at several places, it is simply not available. The one-way system just helps motorists who zoom past in their vehicles without caring for pedestrians, commuters, students and senior citizens on the busy roads.
