The Museum of Science & Industry presents:

MakeFest 2015

Tinker, Maker, Solder, Try

Saturday 8 & Sunday 9 August, 10am – 5pm

We’ve had a bit of a makeover, but we’re still the same awesome team that were behind Manchester Mini Maker Faire.

This year we are bringing you MakeFest 2015.

MakeFest is an exciting, hands-on festival taking place at Museum of Science & Industry this summer. We’re moving out of the 1830 Warehouse, taking over other parts of the museum and will be anything but mini.

It’s a chance for you to show off your skills and to get friends, rivals and the public making.

Code a Raspberry Pi next to Baby, introduce your robot to a steam engine or get everyone knitting molecules in our Textiles Gallery.

If you’re a techie, maker, crafter, educator, hobbyist, engineer, artist, science club, student, tinkerer, tailor or even a candlestick maker then we want you to be part of MakeFest.

Grab your soldering iron and let’s go…

How to take part

We need all kinds of people to make MakeFest happen. From high tech to low tech and anything in between, we want to hear from you.

You can apply to:

·         Have a maker station to show your work and get people making

·         Run a workshop

·         Give demonstrations

·         Have another idea? Let us know on your application or drop us an email to make...@mosi.org.uk

Applications can be submitted from individuals or groups. Your creation doesn’t need to be finished – works in progress are always welcome.

Please apply by 31 March.

We’re also hosting A-Maze-Balls at MakeFest – a collaborative build to create a massive marble run. Visit the A-Maze Balls website for more details, and contact Bob Clough if you’d like to take part.

The finer details

MakeFest will be open to the general public from 10am – 5pm on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 August 2015. We’ll be providing an evening meal and a get together for all Makers after 5pm on Saturday.

MakeFest is proudly produced by the Museum of Science & Industry and a fantastic team of Makers. We are not affiliated with Maker Media.
