here's an interactive map, so you look up your favorite Louisiana stream, and write LDNR about it
Each acre of wetland lost, is a million more gallons of rainwater that will have to run over a road or into a house.
Each trenched stream crossing ("Open Cut") is cut ripping the earth up completely. The Law says that pipelines must avoid damage to waters, but there's a lot of disrespect for those laws in this pipeline.
The company could avoid many water crossings by Horizontally drilling. They regularly go 150 feet to 300 feet below rivers and property that people protect.
And yet, the Vermillion River crossing is shallow--30 tp 40 feet. For Bayou Lafourche, the pipe will only pass 40 feet beneath the water bottom!
Share this with people you know who will protect our Louisiana waters. we need many changes to this pipeline, and an environmental impact statement.
