Folks,
The council is considering a resolution Thursday July 13 calling upon the mayor to file a lawsuit against oil, gas, and pipeline companies for their role in destroying the coastal buffer that once protected the city. Jefferson, Plaquemines, and 4 other parishes in the metro area have done it. Orleans has not.
I'm pretty sure a majority vote is secure, but public support will help make it unanimous. So if you can show up, and if you want to speak as well, that would be great.
My understanding is that there will be a press conference at 930 if you're interested and the resolution should be considered soon after the council convenes at 10:00.
I'll be there and hope at least some of you can make it-- and of course spread the word.
Thanks all,
John
