Hi all,
It has been a while! Looking to reconnect? OpenHour coming up on Monday should be a good one. This was a good topic at Barnraising, now let's bring more people in! Hope you can join. Would be great to see some friendly faces again :).

Hello!

This coming Monday at 1pm EST, Public Lab will be hosting an OpenHour on "Environmental monitoring methods recognized by enforcement bodies"

Link to join: https://zoom.us/j/364735286

Or call in: Dial: +1 408 638 0968 ID: 364 735 286

While there are many types of methods people can use in environmental monitoring, only some have been approved by various agencies for official data. This OpenHour will explore:

  • What methods are recognized, and by whom?
  • How do methods become recognized or official?
  • Who has had success using these methods?
  • Can we work to make new methods recognized?
  • Are there any methods that don't require expensive equipment?

Looking to join the call will be:

  • Alison Parker ORISE fellow at the EPA. Allison recently co-edited the National Advisory Council for Environmental Policy and Technology's report on Citizen Science.
  • Brandon Feenstra with the South Coast Air Quality Management District. The SCAQMD has been working to compare the data of new low-cost air monitoring tools to those that are federally recognized.
  • Rachelle Duvall EPA research scientist and co-author of a recent publication on integrating sensor monitoring technologies into current air pollution regulation.
Hope to see you at OpenHour!

J  I saw that about Open Hour. I might try to make it, but we are cutting cores all day Monday so I’ll be really dirty if I do.

Thank you for organizing!  I shared the invite with my Ecological Systems class.  Looking forward to it!
