Survey results are in: Every person reported that they would come next year!!

I've compile the results of the survey (thank you to those who took time to fill it out). They were resoundingly positive, so hats off to all of you! Every person helped to make this event special for all of us. Thank you. So what's next? I've put together a little list to help us reflect on the Barnraising and keep up with our take aways!

Things to do and look forward to:

-       OpenHour this coming Monday will be on: “Public Lab 2014, A year in review, what we’re looking forward to next!” It will be a great time to talk about your take ways from this year and the Barnraising, some of the goals we set, and how we’re going to tackle them.

-       Buildup the Barnraising wiki! We’re migrating the Barnraising page back to information about the event in general and cataloging what happened this year. Check in on the new 2014 Barnraising page. Fill in information on your sessions; link to research notes that came from your work there, or things you presented. It’s our page! Lets harness the awesomeness.

-       Think about the committees. Remember all those cool ideas you had for free time? All the gear you were glad was there or wished you had remembered? Committees help to make these events amazing. Volunteer to work on a committee take it on for next year. (should we start a funcom? Ghost stories were awesome! What else could we do?)

-       Name annotate the group photo. Anyone interested in going through and naming/linking to Public Lab profiles on our awesome group photo (after the photoshoping of people in of course!) Can do this on our new wiki.

-       Help grow the event! We had an great crowd this year, and to support it we’re always looking for sponsors. Know of anyone who might be interested in helping to put on the event next year? Email be...@publiclab.org with sponsorship ideas.

-       Drop your pictures in our picture page! there have been some awesome photo sharing, add yours!

Thanks everyone!

-Stevie

Should we have a traceable procedure for sharing photos? If Public Lab wants to use these photos in the future, they will have to know what license the photographer used. If the photos are public domain it does not matter, but if the license is Creative Commons SA, subsequent users must give credit to the photographer. Eymund added his name in the filename of each photo, which is good.  It might be nice to have a standard procedure for attaching your name to your photos. Even if you don't care about getting credit for your photos, it will be much easier for Public Lab to adhere to licensing standards if they know who took the photos they are using.

On a related note, there are some photos of our stop at Cecil Lapeyrouse's Grocery here. These were only indirectly related to the Barnraising, so I thought they might not belong at Public Lab. Presenting them this way also maintains their context (I have an aversion to throwing photos without captions into a shoe box).

Hello!
Hope everyone had a great holiday (for those of us who do the turkey thing). I'm excited for today's OpenHour as a chance to catch up with everyone! Hope to see you there at 1:00pm EST.

Still looking for people to help edit the Barnrasing 2014 page! Can everyone post the sessions you each hosted or attended on it?

Chris- Great idea. Photo credit is hard in this community because things do come from everywhere! Interested in writing up a post about it? Something about the best practices to making sure your photos are credited and a little bit about choosing the license you'd like them to be under?

-Stevie

I added the goals we brainstormed on Sunday to http://publiclab.org/wiki/barnraising-2014#Goals+we
They look great!

For those of you who hosted / attended sessions, please put your notes on that page! Stevie and I will write up any that you don't, but the documentation will be better if you write it up the way "it should be" ;)
