Hello Barnraisers! It takes a village to raise a barn and it takes a DIY community to feed Public Lab, so I would greatly appreciate your help!

I'm working on setting up our meals for the Barnraising in two weeks and am soliciting volunteers. We will need volunteers for breakfast and dinner each day to help prep the food and clean up the kitchen. Feel free to check out the proposed meal plan and put your name on a Cook Team and/or a Clean Team for any breakfast and dinner meal.

If you have any questions, concerns or words of wisdom, feel free to let me know. I look forward to seeing all of you at this year's Barnraising!

Best,
Jen

ps. If you haven't done so already, please fill out the form. Stevie needs to know all of that important information and I need to know head counts and food allergies to finalize the menu and shopping list.

Same here, I'm not sure how many people you want for each crew, so feel free to add my name where ever it makes the most sense.

Me too! Especially for chopping duty, but dishwashing, anything sounds great.

Happy to help in whatever capacity. Have a lot of experience cooking for 100+ people. Sign me up in whatever would be most useful!

Cheers,
Jordan

I can cook and clean more than I put myself down for if needed.

Put me down wherever you need me. I have pretty decent chopping and knife skills from my single semester enrolled in cooking school. Asking me to cook any steaks or BBQ is a bad idea though...

Does the +1 mean that you still need one more, or that the person who is listed will be bring another person as though they are going to a wedding?

Haha, it means we need another volunteer to help cook the wedding-like feast we'll eat every night.

Will and I are happy to be added to any shifts --- we love cooking for big crowds, add us in wherever.

Question:  Have dinners already been planned?   Do cooks plan dinner + get food?   How does food get to LUMCON?

If it involves executing dinner off a master grocery list where the "what to buy" decisions have been made, that's preferable.

Alternatively if there's a second list where delicious dinners are being brainstormed and grocery lists are being made, I'd be grateful for a link.

Dinners have been more or less already planned. If you're volunteering to help cook, it means that you'll have veggies, meat and other assorted food things to prep based on groceries that have already been purchased. If you're volunteering to do clean up crew, it means you'll have dishes to wash and tables to wipe down.

Here's a link to the proposed menu: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsUKyH3E1VCQdEFhZm9pMF9rb0k5S2VMRFJGV21Pamc&usp=docslist_api

With that said, if you have an expertise in a delicious side dish (salads, seasoned corn, rice, etc) that would go well with one of the main dishes, I'm happy to take your suggestion and figure out if it fits into our food budget. The end goal is to have happy tummies!

Thanks again to everyone for being so readily and willing to volunteer. It will help make for some tasty meals. :)
