PHP 7 is coming out soon with some new features like return types[1] and uniform variable syntax[2]. We hope to put together a solid agreeable PSR-2 extended recommendation for syntax changes made past php 5.4 and get it passed around the time of release.

Please read through our pull request and address any concerns in a new separate thread leaving this thread for votes only.

Our working group is:
Editor: Michael Cullum @michaelcullum
Coordinator: Korvin Szanto @KorvinSzanto - concrete5
Sponsor: Alexander Makarov @samdark - Yii framework

Not to be the Pendant of the group but did we have a discussion about
this first?

I don't - strictly an opinion - think it is necessary to have a
seperate RFC on this, but I do think that we ought to observe the 2
week discussion BEFORE calling for a vote.

No?

Cheers!

Humble apologies my friends. :)

After I replied, I found the discussion.

Please ignore me.

Hey,

+0 from SMW and Wikibase.

I agree that it makes sense to not forget new language features, though have always been ambivalent about having a PSR about coding style in the first place. It's not strictly speaking an interoperability thing, and there are many styles that work well, as long as you do not mix them within a project.

Cheers

Cal,
The 2 week discussion period is for member votes only, the PSR workflow bylaw does not have a pre-discussion requirement[1]. Even though that's the case, we did discuss this on the list before calling the vote[2].
