It's that time again. Time for another PhillyJS meetup.

Who has something they'd like to talk about? Please reply or email philly...@gmail.com with ideas.

Also, if you just have topics you'd like to hear about, toss those out too. Maybe it will compel someone with experience in that area.

Date and venue for the meetup will be coming, but for now we're shooting for late February.

thanks,
reed

Another +1 for Meteor.

I'm also interested in hearing folks share how they're using Backbone.js and Grunt.

I probably can't do the end of February, but I'd volunteer to give a Leaflet talk sometime if anyone is interested in JS mapping.

Hey Aaron - I'm also interested in a more general Angular primer. Maybe something a bit more specifically-Angular-focused than your Barcamp talk?

Depending on the date I can talk about my recent experience building an internal application in  Angularjs.  It communicates with a hypermedia API and utilizes TaffyDB to twist the data around and let the user search and edit.

It would be more about the pitfalls and wins of this approach, this was one of my teams first major Angular apps so there was a lot of learning involved.  Some of this uses code that I would not show my mother.

I'm very interested in an AngularJS talk as well. I've been evaluating it for a project recently, and so far I like what I see, so I'm really curious to hear a real-life example and know any pitfalls you've encountered.

Also, since everyone is interested in Meteor (myself included), does anyone know someone with experience who could give a talk?

I would like to learn more about Meteor too. Since there are a lot of people interested, but no one with presentable experience, it may be a worthwhile experiment to have a focused hack session where everyone plays with meteor for a while, asks for help if they hit a roadblocks and then we go around the room sharing the things we learned.

Crazy? Just crazy enough to work?

Justin and phillyjs,
We did this kind of "group learning" with a python group last year. A few people wanted to learn more about pandas (a data analysis library), and we got together informally to play around with it and help each other out. It worked well!

Are you using it as a regular editor? I'm super excited by this and light table. HTML powered editors are a really awesome prospect.

I'd be more than happy to chat about Brackets. A new open source code editor written in JS, HTML and CSS.

Not sure what you mean by a "regular" editor, but yeah, I think so. We use Brackets to develop Brackets in a weird web platform recursion thing. It's still pre-1.0, but it's extremely stable.

I just realized I actually proposed a Brackets talk back in August and never heard back.

Sorry to bring it up again, I don't mean to spam. I'm based in Washington, DC with a bunch of friends in Philly, so I'm always looking for a reason to take the train ride. I think I signed up for the group back then when I submitted the topic.

I'm planning on walking through a very gentle introduction to the framwork to show how it scales from small single (html) page applications to large complex applications.  Too many of these frameworks require you to learn a framework just to get started.  So rather then focus on a yeoman.io based workflow I'll start small.

I can also talk about my experiences deploying Angular in production and what we did right and wrong.

In the meantime I posted some code that I'm planning on walking through, feel free to take a look.

Hope to see you all Wed!
