Our Collective Challenge
Over the past week, a continually evolving stream of information and actions is making the job of keeping all stakeholders safe increasingly difficult. The world is discovering that many of our the current social, governmental, institutional, economic and healthcare systems are fragile and not able to work as we have come to expect and we are all looking for answers.

Plexus Institute is looking to the past and the future to carefully provide opportunities and insight that will offer important guidance, community and options for action, as we navigate the complex and rapidly changing changing Covid-19 environment.

A model for how we can begin to understand and plan for the next stage of our future once the crisis is better understood, may potentially be found in the Plexus Institute PD MRSA Prevention Partnership. A collaboration among a network of hospitals, Positive Deviance Initiative, CDC, and Delmarva Foundation/Maryland Patient Safety Center pioneered the use of Positive Deviance in MRSA prevention.

We have curated and posted a number of studies and articles that are valuable as we navigate the current Covid-19 environment. https://plexusinstitute.org/expertise/apd/pd-mrsa-prevention-partnership/ If there are members of our Network who would like to share their reflections on the MRSA/PD project and today, please let us know.

Several Plexus Institute Board Members have been working with the www.endcoronavirus.org, a global action network initiated and maintained by the New England Complex Systems Institute (NECSI) and collaborators. This group is working on all fronts to proactively address how to stop the spread of Covid-19. Information and data is being pushed across all channels of communication and it is important to stay informed as it pertains to your personal, community and organizational or business domains.

Be part of our future work and let us know any questions or suggestions you have.
We invite you to join our efforts to apply the experience and insights held by member of the Plexus Network.

The presentation and discussion builds how acting into uncertainty, ambiguity, and complexity requires continuous rational cognition, discernment, action, reflection, and adaptation. Read Bruce's story Buck The System: Sense-making and Acting Into Complexity at the United States Department of Labor.

This article caught our attention

In a pandemic, patient-centered care is inadequate and must be replaced by community-centered care. Solutions for Covid-19 are required for the entire population, not only for hospitals. The catastrophe unfolding in wealthy Lombardy could happen anywhere. Clinicians at a hospital at the epicenter call for a long-term plan for the next pandemic. Shifting our behaviors from patient-centered care is yet another major pattern shift in the healthcare system. The system is "far from understanding and agreement" on how best to proceed.
