It seem to be an error in the areal photo used on this place. I don't know what 's causing this. If it's scanned from an analogue source (from paper for example) then there may have been a stain on that analogue source. If it's from a digital souce it may have been a glitch in the imagening sensor or perhaps an error during processing. Issues with the lens used may also be relevant. Anyway, It's nothing we here in Panoramio can do about this.I guess this issue is fixed when Google updates their areal photos over this area.

I think it was deliberately coloured, the edges seem to fit too well for it to be accidental - it also seems to be present at all zoom levels, at least on my iPad. Interesting to hear what the conspiracy theorists think!

Your question: Why is the area red ?

And now my extended question: Why is the area (Pos. 31.561872 74.387455) red or sometimes white or green?
See this following Google Earth screenshots and watch out the date of the map (see in the upper left corner).

Here is my answer:

Look in this example (Pos. 31° 29' 29.58" 74° 20' 19.02") how the areas change their color and structure: red, white, striped and green.

And watch out again the date of the map!

That's the solution. Did you guess it?

Peter,
you have now betrayed the solution of the red-spot-mystery!

Perhaps they may have bad weather in the months of July and August, when the monsoon comes, but the real problem is too much sun and high temperatures throughout the year. On an annual average over 8 hours sunshine every day. From April to October with maximum temperatures (average per month) of more than 33 °C with peaks of up to 45 °C (see Wikipedia).

Lahore (Pakistan) is on the same latitude, such as Jerusalem, Amman (Jordan), Alexandria (Egypt) or Marrakech (Morocco).

Correct I did not take the sun in concideration. Were I live one never can have too much sun ;-)
As always I must congratulate you on your extensive work Tucky.

Peter,
thank you, I read your forum posts also always with great interest. Yes, we Europeans north of the Alps love the sun.

It would be nice if we had an inhabitant of Pakistan in this thread, which could confirm our guess, he would certainly know this kind of red tents.
Do we have one?

As an additional service, an addendum:
Here's a video (photo-stream) of the celebration and the tents in the background, see at 2:10 minutes and following

Note:

Jamateshafia,
if all the Panoramio photos were really made by you (see the different recording dates and cameras), then you were already repeatedly at this memorial. Then you know certainly also that
for the ceremony tents are built up and the floor is covered with red carpets for the people.
