Bucanero Tour in Cuba - March 16th to 24th 2019

Peter Marshall, promoter of Canbicuba (now (now Bicycle Breeze) is offering a series of nine day backroads tours in eastern Cuba under the heading 'Guajira'. One such tour is headed by Les Humphreys and runs under the banner 'Bucanero' from March 16^th to March 24^th,

Starting from Holguin in eastern Cuba, the Bucanero heads for Gibara and visits a number of out of the way beaches before finishing in the city of Las Tunas, escorted into town by the local youth cycling club ( EIDE) which CanBiCuba has supported for many years.

This tour takes mostly dirt backloads, more amenable to cyclcross or mountain bikes than road machines. Daily distances average 50k per day for a total of 7 days of riding. The tour is escorted by a bus and a support team comprising the driver, mechanic and tour guide. Accommodation comprises 4 nights hotel and 4 nights B&B (Casa Particular). Price $2k US includes breakfasts, dinners and airport transfers. Lunches are at participants own expense, as are the costs of getting there.
