Peter Marshall, promoter of Canbicuba (now (now Bicycle Breeze) is offering a series of nine day backroads tours in eastern Cuba under the heading 'Guajira'. One such tour is headed by Les Humphreys and runs under the banner 'Bucanero' from March 16th to March 24th,
Starting from Holguin in eastern Cuba, the Bucanero heads for Gibara and visits a number of out of the way beaches before finishing in the city of Las Tunas, escorted into town by the local youth cycling club ( EIDE) which CanBiCuba has supported for many years.
This
tour takes mostly dirt backloads, more amenable to cyclcross
or
mountain bikes than road machines. Daily distances average 50k
per
day for a total of 7 days of riding. The tour is escorted by a
bus
and a support team comprising the driver, mechanic and tour
guide.
Accommodation comprises 4 nights hotel and 4 nights B&B
(Casa
Particular). Price $2k US includes breakfasts, dinners and
airport
transfers. Lunches are at participants own expense, as are the
costs of getting there.
