Victor, Well done, congratulations!

New UI with new actions list screen accessible both via hardware and software menu button is a BIG step forward in usability.

There were 3 critical issues on 1.3, so 1.3.1 is released.
1. The most critical - Raster Plugin doesn't work and it blocks whole application. I need to disable ownload tile sources completely in order to make quick hot fix release, so now Raster Plugin doesn't download external sources list.
2. Another issue with restarting after routing failure and on cancel button, it just fails again.
3. Download Activity stops when you select external storage directory (dialog appears first time you install application and you don't have any maps downloaded).

Latest Settings documentation available here, as usual: http://code.google.com/p/osmand/wiki/SettingsDocumentations
I did my best for a quick doc, hope there are no errors.

Thx - Hardy

There is one more bug I discovered, but it is not as critical:

On our new "Search" screen,

(a) We kind of lost the explanation text "Search near", which makes it a bit tricky for novice users to figure out what the selector on top means at all

(b) Even if you know what it means, it somehow does not work anymore as expected, at least not reliably. Changing e.g. to "Last map view" may still result in serching near your current position (at least most of the time), same for searching near specified addresses or Favorites. Somehow there seems to be an update missing whenever the user changes the selector, the search mechanism does not seem to reliabley detect this.

I noticed if I am downloading offline maps in the new version, if I rotate the device and the orientation changes, the download stops. And it crashed the app at least once.

In Androidpit the descriptiontext says, there is version 1.3. But I installed this version and it seems to be still versin 1.2.1. This is the number at the opening screen and I am not able to find a difference.

I am missing Settings->General->High resolution display. Otherwise the map is to small for my old eyes.

The mapstyle bicycle-routes doesn't seem to work. I used the map of Bremen, downloaded five minutes ago and their are no routes of the cyclenetworks.

High resolution display has moved to the "Online maps" settings (activate the plugin), because it affected online (or cached) tile maps only.

"Show cycle routes" has always been a function of the "Touring view" map style. I just verified it still works: Try chosing Menu/Define view/Configure screen/Map style "Touring view", then  activate Menu/Define view/Configure screen/Show cycle routes.

It works. It seems to me the cycleroutes don't be rendered , if zoom-level is smaller than 13. I render the routes for all zoom level. If you are travel with a bicyle - 100km or more a day - it is nice to see a cycleroute in a big overview.

Hi

I also noticed this in other versions too.
Actually it seems there are some part of code that resets everything when the device is got rotated.
It is only does NOT reset when the App in Navigation mode.

If you put App just in map mode and rotate it you will see that it reinitialises the GPS.
If you try to calculate long distance route and rotate device in the middle of calculation (for example to put the Phone on dashboard in car or similar) the calculation will crash and App will say that the previous route is incomplete.

Regards,
Areg

This new version looks great, also the consolidated menu accessible via the left bottom button.
The only - small - problem with this is that the font is light-grey on a white background, which makes it difficult to read in conditions with much light (at least on my device).
Is there any way to get the font color darker in the menu? I tried several general options like night map colors, but this has no effect on the menu text font color.
Thx.

Hello Osmandtrier!

It seems to me the cycleroutes don't be rendered , if zoom-level is smaller than 13.

You are right, it does not work, if zoom < 13.
I tried to use zoom < 13 in Touring-view_(more-contrast-and-details).render.xml, but it does not work:
https://github.com/osmandapp/Osmand/blob/2ec8464004a2325969be984ab015c4fe3222f1c2/OsmAnd-java/src/net/osmand/render/Touring-view_%28more-contrast-and-details%29.render.xml#L563
According to rendering_types.xml, lowest available minzoom for *cn-data should be 8:
https://github.com/osmandapp/Osmand/blob/a862baf2574dc34615e83da49367fdac94cbfcf3/OsmAnd-java/src/net/osmand/osm/rendering_types.xml#L98

Maybe there is a bug or I don't understand, how to do it.

Regards,
Max

Unfortunately for me from this version OSMAnd is a crap - it doesn't work for me. I use it on SGSII and SGS+ (both with JB) and routing is simply catastrophic.
When I choose osmand offline navigation service - for routes like 300 km it works very, very long and quite often it crashes.
If I want navigate through some waypoint it even worse - it shows (if at all) route only to the first waypoint and doesn't show the rest of the route to the destination!!!
That's catastrophy!

Moreover, previously the external, online routing services where taking into account the waypoints of my choice. Now it doesn't.
It was good app, now it's almost uslesss :-(

I checked it and the data is not available.
Obviously route relations are only propagated to the parent highway, if the parent highway is indexed at a given zoom level.
I will make pull request, to display *cn_network at zoom 12 also.
Below zoom 12, it does not make much sense to me, to display cycle routes, because they will have many gaps, for example cycleway, path and track are not indexed below zoom 12.

But I don't understand, why nameTags="ref" (for *cn_network) seems not to be indexed below zoom 15.

Max

This has been fixed. cycle routes should now show up at zoom12.

I'm happy to see the issue has been fixed. :-)
Can you please tell me which URL to download the nightly APK from that contains the fix. Is this http://download.osmand.net/latest-night-build/OsmAnd-nightly.apk ?
Thx.
