1) When searching (i.e. my home address inclucing street), the zoom level is usually to low to set a waymark accurately. It would be perfect if the map would zoom closer, so that a waypoint can be set.
2) This might be a Germany-specific topic: When planning multi-day trips, we usually stay in youth hostels / Jugendherbergen. As far as I know, there is even a OSM tag "hostel". It would be perfect, if these could also be displayed on the map to plan the trips more easily.
Search zoom is currently fix at zoom 12. There is another search plugin that zooms depending on the result's bounding box [1]. I need to see if I can extend or switch the current search plugin.
Yes, there is a tag "tourism=hostel", which is shown on the main "OpenStreetMap" map on high zooms (>=17) [2]. Don't know if there is a base map that shows these more prominently. But what you probably want is some specific markers for hostels like on Unterkunftskarte [3]? I fear that would be out of scope right now, unless there is some easy to integrate Leaflet plugin (haven't found one).
The plugin you cited looks perfect. Since I posted the original post, I found a workaround when planning trips, and this brought up more issues. After searching a location, I can not use the "q" key to stop mapping (cursor isn't in the search field anymore). Unfortunally, in order to zoom in, I need to click the map first, which moves the focus, so I can't zoom to the location I wanted anymore. The workaround is to click the "data" textfield, then press q, then it works with pressing "+" to zoom in. This might be a minor bug, but it seems that the "map" is loosing focus of the keyboard.
The "unterkunftskarte" looks great, thank's so far. It uses "lyrc" [1] as base mape, which has a free community edition. Not sure if that would fit brouter? However, I understand that this is not an important feature.
