Dr Sameer Shamshuddin

I came across your link and was hoping that maybe you could provide some assistance. We are running a few macs with macOS 10.8 and 10.8.2 and 10.8.3 with Osirix v.5.6 64-bit. In regards to the cloning preferences, is there a way to copy the plsit file to all other users on a mac computer using one account. Or how can I have make so if anyone new logs into the mac that the preference settings will apply. Thank you very much.

It used to be only one library-preferences in lion but mountain lion seem to have sub-decided the library architecture

copy to each individual users-library -preferences and replace the plist file

Hope this helps

Warm regards

I do have access to all accounts under the root account only. I have not copied the plist to the main library yet. I am guessing that the main library is at the same level as applications and system and users. Is this correct? I can try and copy the plist to that location to see if that works, but 1st would like to see what Tishi has to say. Once again thank you very much.

The path has changed in the latest version of OsiriX 5.2 running on OS X Mountain Lion

Main path

Your-Hard-Disk/Library/Preferences

User account path

Your-Hard-Disk/Users/...Your-user…./Library/Preferences

Actually you can not see the above Library folder under your home folder, because it is hidden.

However, you can reach it via:

-----Click "finder"

-----When you hold on pressing "Alt" button and choose "Go" from menu bar you can see Library there (it is a different library folder, other than the Library under your hard disk).

There you can replace the "com.rosseantoine.osirix.plist" file
Individually into each account

Warm regards

I am sorry that I am still confused. When you say:

-----Click "finder"

-----When you hold on pressing "Alt" button and choose "Go" from menu bar you can see Library there (it is a different library folder, other than the Library under your hard disk).

Why am I clicking finder. I did do the other pressng alt and Go but I can only see the library for the account that I am logged in as. I am still confused on how to copy this plist to all the other accounts. I am able to login with the root account and did copy the plist to all the other "your user" accounts, but when others login in, the preferences are still going back to the default. Again sorry I am confused here. If I login with my user admin account, again I can only see my library, how do i see all the other user's "your user" libraries so I can copy the plist. The only option I have found is having each person login and then copying the plist as each is logged in whoch takes a very long time.

Hi

Seems each user will need to copy the file individually. It takes a while but worth setting it up once !

Warm regards

Thank you for your help.  I am not  a UK radiologist.  I am a desktop computer tech in the US that has been given a task to learn about mac computers and installing and using Osirix on them.  It has been tough.  I am a PC guy, but now can say I know alot about macs and getting to know osirix much better. My resolution to my previous problem was to create template account on the mac compuer like a default use on a PC.  Make the prefernce changes on that accoutn and run sudo commands.  Therefore as each other logs inot he mac they will get the same setup as the template account.  worked like a charm.  just took me awhile to figure that out.  Used this to help me: http://hintsforums.macworld.com/showthread.php?t=126035
