Just wanted to flag a small but interesting development for you. This morning, AAAS, the publisher of Science and five other journals, has announced an update to its Open Access policy. The publisher will now permit authors funded by cOAlition S funders to place a CC-BY or CC-BY-ND license on their accepted manuscripts to facilitate compliance with Plan S author rights retention policy.
Most notably: their announcement (link below) stresses that are supportive of Green OA, and have deep concerns over the inequities inherent in the APC system. There are no fees associated with this policy change, and AAAS says they are doing this on a trial basis beginning this month.
