AB 857 Advances to 2nd Senate Committee
- Also We're in the News!
Thank you, Santa Rosa City Council
Thank you, Santa Rosa City Council members for voting unanimously for the City of Santa Rosa to endorse Public Banking Act AB 857!

The City of Santa Rosa now joins 11 other cities and counties throughout California to endorse AB 857: City of Los Angeles, City of San Diego, City and County of San Francisco, City of Long Beach, City of Oakland, City and County of Santa Cruz, City of Richmond, City of Berkeley, City of Huntington Park, City of Watsonville, and the City of Eureka.

Important Update on Senator Mike McGuire

We would like to clarify a recent miscommunication: Senator Mike McGuire is a supporter of AB 857, the Public Banking Bill, and is NOT the one responsible for the referendum amendment we told you about.

The referendum amendment was actually forwarded to Senator McGuire’s committee by the Chair of the Banking Committee - with our author's agreement. This amendment landed on Senator McGuire’s desk.

Our authors and the Senator are in active negotiations to reach a solution that will follow through with the spirit of the amendment and not impose unnecessary challenges. We are also in communication with McGuire.

We thank Senator McGuire for working with the California Public Banking Alliance and very much value his on-going support for the progressive values of the people of California.

AB 857 Heads to Senate Governance!

The Senate Governance committee hearing is slated for this Wednesday. We need your help with two Senators:

If you live in Senator Hertzberg’s district in the San Fernando Valley or Senator Hurtado’s district in Fresno/Central Valley, please call their office today!

Senator Bob Hertzberg : 916-651-4018
Senator Melissa Hurtado : 916-651-4014

Tell the staffer your name, zip code, and “As a constituent, I’m urging the Senator to support AB 857, the Public Banking Act.”

If your Senator isn't on the Governance & Finance committee, you can still help by calling your Senator and urging their support on the Senate floor. Find your Senator here, find their Capitol phone here.

With your support, California is on its way to making history!
