CAMPAIGN PRESENTATION FOR GREEN NEW DEAL

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her passionate support for a Green New Deal has finally brought climate and system change into the spotlight of corporate media. Climate activists need to rise to the challenge and do everything we can to shape the specifics of the Green New Deal, to support it in our communities and to insist that the Democratic Party coalesce around it for the 2020 elections. This means challenging the political power structures and demanding that they do what is right rather than what is expedient. That social justice is being addressed up front and center is essential. The promise of green new jobs and a fairer economy as we leave fossil fuels behind is what will initially sell this program to the American people. There is a huge roar building in response to income inequality and if we can tap into this, it may be possible to change our trajectory in spite of Trump and his zombie cabinet. I am asking that this be the first order of business for all of our groups in the coming months.
