Most Americans eat far too much protein and are lacking in other essential nutrients that are high in plant-based foodsEven the Paleo and ketogenic diets promote eating a minimum of 80% vegetables for sufficient nutrients.
Some foods have protective coatings that impair absorption of their nutrients.  People who rely on nuts and seeds for protein and other nutrients will benefit greatly by soaking them, even for just an hour (discard the water).  If you prefer nuts that are crunchy you can dry them againSprouting enhances the nutrition of many foods.
Many of the foods on this vegan protein list are also good sources for bioavailable omegas and calcium.
