I am attempting to provide some feedback on the specifications as one of the examples appears to conflict with the details in the extension, however I'm having some website issues.

When I visit the "Log in / Create Account" links there's no options to create an account, only to log in, and the log in options don't let me set up an account.

Also, I'd note that there is secure https isn't available (expired 2007, and self-signed). Maybe a let's encrypt set up could be used now?

(For details on the issue I'm trying to report, see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1425827).

Hi Mark,

I disabled new signups many years back because of out of control spam problem. That bug report a legit issue to address, though.

And while I agree wholeheartedly about supporting proper SSL, I'm also the only person who has admin rights on that server, which is a bad thing, so I'm reluctant to invest anything more in updating it, and would rather see us just shut down the wiki and migrate it all to github or something else similarly modern. I've made a few half-attempts to dump the content to something that github could server, but never finished the project.

Volunteers welcome -- let's do this!

Dear DeWitt, all

I propose that we move the OpenSearch pages to the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Standards Incubator and start the process to include it on the OGC Community Standards.
http://www.opengeospatial.org/standards/community

The OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium) is an international not for profit organisation committed to making quality open standards for the global geospatial community. These standards are made through a consensus process and are freely available for anyone to use to improve sharing of the world's geospatial data.
http://www.opengeospatial.org/

In the OGC we are already using OpenSearch in the catalogue specifications and heavily interested in it and the standardisation of extensions

If there is no opposition I could ask for their support and start the process to move the web pages to their Standards Incubator.

cheers

Pedro

I seem to recall that github can serve the wiki markup unchanged.

I made a gist with the extension .mediawiki of the OpenSearch main page.

The links probably won't work, but that's fixable.
