regarding ‘salt’ column in o_bs_authentication table

In o_bs_authentication table there is a column name ‘salt’. Could you please tell me the functionality this column?

Hi
The password in OpenOLAT are saved as a hash calculated with a salt. The hashed password is in the column credentail, the salt in the column salt.
