When I run the NiUserTracker sample, I get the error in the title. It has to do with the SamplesConfig.xml file, but I'm not sure how to fix it. Has anyone else seen this error before?

Thank you,
GHirsch

When that happens to me, I just restart the computer.

That's what I ended up doing, but I was curious as to what was causing it. I'd prefer to avoid it happening at a bad time, but I guess it doesn't matter much.

I am also having the same issue.  I can only run my OpenNI viewer program once before having to restart the computer.  It happens using both a Kinect and an ASUS Xtion Pro Live.  If anyone know a fix I would appreciate it!  Thanks.

Forgot to include the errors, here they are:
Open failed here: Got a timeout while waiting for a network command to complete!
or
Open failed here: Xiron OS got an event timeout!

Damn, if there was a way of killing the OpenNI server...

I have the same issue using openni-dev 1.5.2.23~precise on Ubuntu 12.04..

It would appear that running sample programs, such as NiViewer spawns a second process: "/usr/bin/XnSensorServer /etc/openni".
This sometimes shuts down a few seconds after terminating a sample program, but other times seems to keep running for much longer, and then re-launching NiViewer  gives the timeout error..

I tried kiling theXnSensorServer process and re-launching the NiViewer, and this usually works. Sometimes it takes a second attempt to start NiViewer though.

I also tried manually running "/usr/bin/XnSensorServer /etc/openni" in one terminal session and NiViewer in a separate one, which works too, although it reports some warnings suggesting it's not intended to be run this way...
