General Summary:
IT Data Modeler is responsible for collecting, understanding, modeling, documenting, and communicating the data requirements necessary to perform business processes, by organizing, coordinating, and providing data modeling and data architecture services, including data rationalization, data element standards, and active collaboration with information stewards, data analysts, and stewardship facilitators; and through active application and usage of the enterprise data architecture, including maintaining and integrating enterprise data models, and developing the linkages (traceability) to the enterprise data models.
Responsibilities / Requirements:
Build, develop, and manage SQL Server relational databases using data warehousing best practices
Design architecture, map business rules and processes into technical solutions
Hands-on ETL development. Review ETL load jobs coded by others for consistency and quality
Gather business requirements to conceptualize, design and deliver ongoing production reports and visual dashboards
Mine and manipulate data from the enterprise data warehouse, along with other disparate sources, to provide data reporting for business operational reports and analyses using a variety of analytical tools, including but not limited to: Tableau, SQL, SSRS, SAS, Excel, or related BI software
Ensure that proper controls are in place so that reports are accurate and timely; resolve any issues/errors
Work closely with the team to translate raw enterprise data into meaningful analyses and insights
Collaborate with team on developing a consistent approach to BI reports/dashboards used throughout the company; provide suggestions to improve reporting best practices and work as part of team responsible for ongoing process improvement efforts
Support the ongoing development of the enterprise data warehouse through the identification of new data sources and continued validation of existing data sources
Support the day-to-day performance, maintenance, and monitoring of SQL environments and interfaces .
