I just forked the inet-framework/cni-os3 repo (for Open Source Satellite Simulator) and fixed a few issues with some of the C++ code and package references in ned files.  It should now be compatible with inet 2.4.

I do see a few other issues to address that I plan to work on as time permits.

It can be found here:

I did notice that the java source code for the configurator is missing and the source for the installation guide (in pdf format) is missing as well.  Both could probably use a facelift.

Rudolf, do you have source for Configurator that could be posted?

Great project, hope this and future commits make a useful contribution.

This is actually not my project. I have just created a repo for it under the inet-framework organization and made some minor changes to make it usable with the (then) actual version of INET.

I have committed all code that was found on the original website. The original author is https://github.com/subik so you may be able to contact him and send a pull request so he will be able to merge it. (if you cannot reach him, I may be able also to merge your changes into that repo, but would be better if the original author would do it :)

Thanks Rudolf...

I'm emailed the people listed on the website to see if anyone has the java source and would be willing to include it.

Hopefully, someone with a continuing vested interest in project will respond in the positive.

Doug

PS The original author's github repos (subik)  appear to be gone.

Ok, we will see. If we can find the maintainer I would be happy to give them access to the repo.

Rudolf,

I might be interested in maintaining the code to stay in sync with inet, etc.  I'll like to hear back as to what the original authors would prefer...

Update -- I now have 2 students that are starting to work with OS3 -- expect updates to project to start flowing...

Doug

PS I should also note that I've discussed project with original authors and they are good to go as far as project maintenance. They have also provided java source code to configuration tool, plus other information that I'm looking through.  So, shortly, Java source to configuration tool (that is missing in current repo) will be added/posted.

Thanks Doug for taking over the project. I'm happy that the project is revived...

What features do you plan to implement?

We also suggest you create a website for the project.
(you can use github to host the website. See: https://github.com/inet-framework/simulte/tree/gh-pages )

Hi Rudolf,

There are 2 things that I'd like to do:

1) Develop a set of simple examples to show how to use package.

2) Add acquisition and tracking models and again, more examples!

I'll definitely look to setup a supporting website.

Doug

PS I've updated main os3 project site and will be deleting my fork on GitHub -- so ignore the link in my first post - code can be found here:
