Hi,

Does anyone knows how to install Ocropus on Mac OSX 10.8 ? I've tried couple approaches but with no luck - got different errors while trying to install dependency libraries.

Thanks in advance,
Paul

This is not going to help you much, but I generally have found working in a virtualbox is the most pain free solution in the long run. Even if its one just for the project using vagrant. Just an idea. Sorry to be of no 'real' help.

I managed to install it on OSX 10.8, however the process was hectic.
In brief, Homebrew is your best friend. Use the python provided by homebrew (probably better remove any installed pip or easy_install library).
Tap this repo https://github.com/samueljohn/homebrew-python. Install all required packages such as scipy, numpy, matpolib, tables, opencv...etc.
Then, try to run the run-test script, it might reveal other not installed packages, install them by homebrew as well.
After couple of hours I got it running.
Sorry if I can't give you specific instructions but that's what I've done IIRC.

Cheers,
Remon

P.S. have you tried Tesseract?

The latest versions of OCRopus just require SciPy, NumPy, Matplotlib, and a bunch of other standard Python libraries. If you have a good Python distribution, it should generally work and even install with setup.py. However, since we don't have Macs, we can't really test that.
