++  AGENDA FOR THIS WEEK’S MEETING

Our 12 noon luncheon for Wednesday, October 22nd, 2014, will be held at Olivet Baptist Church, 1201 Northwest 10th street in OKC. Our speaker this week will be Chris Wilson, a nationally known pollster and political consultant. I have asked Chris to give us a little behind the scenes information about some of his past campaigns (Senator Mike Lee’s race) as well as his efforts with U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas). He also has access to the latest political data available to the public as well as his own analysis of races. I have asked him to give us the latest run down on the key U.S. Senate races and perhaps some of the hotly contested Governor’s races. This will be a fascinating meeting, you will not want to miss it.

Regarding last week’s meeting with the home school students. It was a fascinating meeting as the various young ladies did an excellent job of dispelling the myths about the academic performance of home schooled children and their so called “lack of socialization”. Truth is, positive socialization rather than negative, is one of the strongest aspects of being home schooled and these 5 students did an excellent job of showing such poise and accomplishment. ++  ANNOUNCEMENTS

*  TUESDAY EVENING  -  TULSA AREA  -  U.S. Representative Jim Bridenstine will be hosting the “Secure America Town Hall”, this Tuesday evening, October 21st from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. with the doors opening at 5:30 p.m. The location will be the Mabee Center, 81st and Lewis Ave in Tulsa. Congressman Bridenstine suggests, how we respond to the crisis on our southern border, the potential Ebola epidemic, Isis and other critical threats are crucial to our national security and our sovereignty. There is no cost to attend and no need to rsvp.

*  SATURDAY EVENING  -  TULSA AREA  -  Saturday evening, October 25th will be the 2nd annual Defenders of Liberty Grassroots Activism Awards to recognize ordinary citizens who take time out of their daily lives to stand up for the issues in which they believe. These activists are dedicated enough to find the time and energy to make calls, walk neighborhoods, contribute or speak out at meetings in their communities with the intent of making a positive difference. The location will be the Crown Plaza Hotel, 7902 S. Lewis Ave, Tulsa, beginning at 6:30 p.m., the cost is $35 per person. Since it is a banquet, you will have to make reservations, so log on to www.Tulsa912Project.com for that information. On behalf of OCPAC I have nominated Bob Donohoo and Marlene Lynch to compete for one of the 8 awards. There are many other worthy activist members of OCPAC and perhaps next year a couple of those folks will be willing to represent OCPAC at this honored event.

*  CHARLIE’S PICKS  -  Once I began to get involved in politics about 30 years ago my friends would begin to call me a night or two before an election to get my opinions about candidates and issues. The more I got involved and the more people I met, the number of folks calling me became too great for time to permit. In addition, I was having to say the same thing over and over.

Therefore, I created the infamous “Charlie’s Picks” as a hand out and continued that to where I was handing or sending out a couple hundred before an election. Then came e-mail and now we have over 5,000 on our list. However, because of absentee ballots or various other reasons I am again being swamped with one on one requests, so much so that it is taking away precious time I need to get the e-mail version ready. So please forgive me if I fail to respond to individual requests, I just can’t take the time, at least not before the e-mail version is out. Thanks for understanding.

*  MONDAY’S PRESENTATION ON ISLAM  -  The live town hall meeting on Islam held Monday evening of October 13 at Fairview Baptist was most informative and it was not without its controversies. While I never saw the news coverage from Fox 25, the coverage from KFOR Channel 4 was fair and balanced. KOCO 5 gave far too much coverage to the band of folks that included one woman that I have no doubt was a Muslim while the other woman dressed completely covered except the slit for her eyes, I suspect may not have even been a Muslim. Because she refused to remove her head covering, they were refused entrance.

Enter the Red Dirt Report, an on line investigative journalism and commentary venue. In the past I have seen them do some good reporting, but they should be cautious that they don’t become just an outlet for the handful of malcontent/no boundaries libertarians in Oklahoma. The article from the reporter covering the event wasn’t too bad with this one exception. Everything he reported said by the speakers were as if the things said were their opinions. In reality, little of the meeting were the opinions of the speakers because for the most part they were quoting Muslim leaders, Muslim doctrine, or legal evidence used to convict Muslims in this country for aiding and abetting terrorists here and around the world.

In my opinion, Steve Long was at the meeting to create a story, not do a report on the story. From what I saw that he wrote on the Red Dirt Report web-site, it was ridiculous and uninformed. He has discredited and marginalized himself in my opinion and deserved no further consideration.

In the meantime anyone can go on line to www.RA4C.org and view the meeting for yourselves. The 3 speakers really complimented each other. Pay close attention to the part Frank Gaffney revealed as far as the strategy used by the Muslim’s in this country as to how they influence government officials as well as political leaders.

*  EBOLA  -  Unless you live in the dark recesses of a cave, void of all information which may effect your life (there are many that do dwell there), you may have already heard more than you ever wanted to know about Ebola. Therefore, please suffer me a couple additional thoughts. Some are accusing those on talk radio and conservative TV of being irrational alarmists. In turn those folks are bringing out information not heard in the mainstream press about possible worse case scenarios.

Case in point, this current outbreak of Ebola comes from a strain just discovered in 2013 and appears to be much more dangerous than past strains. Some are suggesting it is not much of a threat to the U.S. because of our quality health care system.

I on the other hand believe the U.S. to be a far more dangerous place to have an outbreak, mainly due to our very mobile society and the fact that we insist on treating this disease from a political correctness standpoint rather than as a public health problem. At least there are several 3rd world African countries that have had the sense to close their borders to people from the infected countries. In addition, Mexico and Belize would not let a Carnival Cruise Ship dock because of a passenger that had worked in the medical facility and handled bio-medical materials from the deceased Ebola patient in Dallas. Already the direct costs to try to contain this very small outbreak in the U.S. and the indirect costs in loss to businesses is in the tens of millions of dollars.

*  AG PRUITT WANTS TO KNOW  -  While I was speaking in Coweta week before last a representative from Scott Pruitt’s office was there handing out a fact sheet about possible persecutions of Christians from various jurisdictions of government. Just since that time we now see the new lesbian mayor of Houston and its city council has passed an ordinance requiring pastors to submit their sermons to determine if they contain any possible hate crimes.

This is exactly what pastors with understanding have said would happen as a result of hate crimes legislation, civil rights commissions in city government and especially the inclusion and special status of the various descriptions of homosexuals in city ordinances. All of these efforts over the years have pointed at taking away the free speech of pastors and Christians. If you hear of anything like this in Oklahoma, contact Scott Pruitt’s office.

*  OPPOSITION TO WIND FARMS GROWING  -  Over the past several weeks I have received 2 mailings from a group known as the “Oklahoma Property Rights Association”. Based on the address label, “The Meadows Household or Current Resident” I suspect these are getting a wide distribution. Their major complaints are a lack of regulations regarding distance set backs from homes and funds to decommission broken generating towers as well as subsidies to facilitate their installations in the first place. While I believe the set backs and decommissioning costs are valid regulatory issues, the subsidies are the most important issue. I have never and will never support subsidies for this industry. If they can truly generate electricity, and the advocates say they can, cheaper than other forms of generation, then they need to stand on their own. Otherwise we have just created another false market where there is no real market. In this case we can call this a blend of fascist and socialist capitalism. We need to end the subsidies immediately, but if a subsidy will create even one job, Gov Mary will be on board with it.

I look forward to seeing everyone this Wednesday.
