1. New Meeting Location
2. Brogdon Wins OKGOP Chair
3. Speaker on April 15: Mark Christian
1. New Meeting Location
ATTENTION! We are moving to a new home effective immediately—with our very next meeting on April 15. The new meeting location is:
Old Surety Life
5201 N. Lincoln Blvd.
Oklahoma City, OK 73105
The
conference center and café is located on the first floor of the Old Surety Life
building which is on the northwest corner of 50th and Lincoln. Enter
the café directly from the south doors which face the capitol. Do not attempt to enter the locked business
doors.
Park in the lot directly west of the building only. Sixty spaces are available, but for heavy crowds, overflow parking is available in the adjacent trailer park on Beverly Dr. We hope this new location just blocks from the capitol will allow legislators and policy wonks in the area to join us regularly for lively discussions and learning.
Lunch will be catered, and you will get to choose a boxed lunch while supplies last for $8. Lunch includes a gourmet sandwich, chips, cookie, and iced tea or water. When you enter the café, you will proceed to the lunch line, or if you are not purchasing a lunch, give your $1 cover charge to the OCPAC officer at the door and move to the tables. The owner of the conference center has graciously donated this beautiful for-rent space, but we have agreed to collect a nominal amount each week to help offset his costs. Please help the owner and us by tidying up after yourself before leaving.
2. Brogdon Wins OKGOP Chair
Former Oklahoma Senator Randy Brogdon became the leader of the state’s Republican Party in a spirited, three-way race this past Saturday. Brogdon’s theme throughout his political career has been liberty, LIBERTY, and more LIBERTY! Always a favorite with the grassroots activists, Brogdon showed that he could also appeal to a broader base of the conservative movement in Oklahoma by winning in a runoff.
Brogdon campaigned for the GOP chair by focusing on fair and inclusive leadership. Just before the election, Brogdon posted, “It takes leadership to uphold the rules of our Republican Party and to treat everyone in our party fairly.” Apparently his message was heard and approved.
We hope that under Randy Brogdon’s leadership, the Oklahoma Republican Party will try to do more than elect more R’s to our legislature. We hope that the GOP, like OCPAC, will promote and support public servants who oppose expansive government while promoting liberty, free markets, and Judeo-Christian standards.
3. Speaker on April 15: Mark Christian
Reclaiming America for Christ will be hosting Dr. Mark
Christian for a series of lectures titled “Islam & Christianity: A Former Muslim’s Perspective.”
Groomed from boyhood to become an influential leader of the Muslim faith, Dr. Christian was afforded unparalleled exposure to the ideology of Islam and the stringent creed of Sharia law. He was the constant companion and confidante of his father, a wealthy doctor, devout Imam, and advisor to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, and he was further influenced by his uncle who shared a prison cell with Sayyid Qutb, a revered and infamous leader of the Muslim Brotherhood.
During medical school Dr. Christian began intensive study and preparation to become an Islamic religious leader. During that time he began asking questions about the fundamental tenets of Islam. These queries became a years-long quest which ultimately led to his conversion to Christianity in March 2003.
