*  OUR TRIP TO COLORADO  -  Linda and I left with the seniors from Fairview Baptist Church in Edmond on Monday the 15th and returned home in the evening of Saturday the 20th. Our primary destination was Durango Colorado. I won’t go into a lot of detail as I have been very busy upon our return and I have a lot of work to do this week.

Upon our arrival in Durango about half of us found our way to a 12 section zip line course. The scenery was beautiful with zip number 11 having the length and steepness to allow us to reach speeds close to 60 miles per hour before slowing down at the bottom. Number 12 was an option to zip to the office or fall backward off a tower of about 45 feet. I opted for the fall and what a sensation, mostly mental as it isn’t normal to step off a ledge backward that high up. The whole 3 hours were a blast. Currently the owner of this course is working to install a zip line in another community that will be a mile long. I sure hope to find my way there at some time in the future.

On Wednesday we boarded the Durango/Silverton train pulled by a 1923 Steam engine powered by burning coal. The nearly 4 hour ride was beautiful. National Geographic had labeled this as the best excursion train in the nation.

The next day we went to Mesa Verde National Park to see the ruins of the Indian cave dwellers. Linda and I had been there several years before and were pleased to see some additional opportunities to stop along the road and see many of the caves and dwellings spread up and down the canyon cliffs.

On Friday we began the return trip to OKC by going through the 4 corners area, the place where New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and Arizonian all come together in one point in place. Of course there were a lot of Indian artisans present with their wares for people wanting something created by the artists.

After dropping down to Gallup we headed east on I-40 toward Albuquerque. Not too far out we stopped at a service station/connivance store/restaurant complex. As we pulled up in the bus (there were 38 of us) my wife noticed a situation she didn’t like at all. It was an older man talking with a young girl who looked like she was under duress. I began to watch as he finally persuaded her into the passenger side of his vehicle, fastened her seat belt and then began to console her.

I went in to use the restroom and then wondered what the chances might be to find someone from law enforcement. I turned around and almost bumped into a tribal security guard. I quickly approached him with my concerns that this might be a situation of transporting a young girl against her will, perhaps involving a sex slave situation.

He followed me out of the building and I noticed the vehicle was gone. However, several others from our group had watched him simply move his vehicle to another location. The security guard approached the driver and I returned to the store to get something to drink and look for Linda. As I was leaving the store, I noticed the security guard had the girl at a small table getting her side of the story. I approached and asked if he needed my contact information of which he said he did. I then asked if my suspicions were in the ball park and he indicated they were.

We may never know the outcome of this brief encounter, but I would ask that folks pray, especially for this young girl that she might find a place of safety and a better life than the one she was headed toward. I pray that both the alleged perp and the victim might develop a relationship with the Lord Jesus.

*  JUDGE RULES IN FAVOR OF 10 COMMANDMENTS MOMUMENT  -  This past week, Judge Tom Prince ruled the 10 commandments monument at the State Capitol passes Constitutional muster as an important historical monument. The ACLU (my opinion, American Communist Lawyers Union) will surely appeal to a higher court. Stay tuned

*  ENVIRONMENTALIST FRINGE  -  I noticed a picture of my tired and old looking Marxist friend, Nathaniel Batchelder in the paper planning a protest on behalf of the “global warming” crisis. However, not seeing any additional coverage in the media his efforts must have been a flop. Therefore on with the big effort in New York City. There, the ultra liberal rent-a-mob showed up leaving their usual mess as they clamored for socialism and down with capitalism. They were stirred up by Hollywood types and perhaps the number one fraud in the world, former Democrat Vice President and Presidential candidate, Al Gore. Meanwhile the earth has experienced a little global cooling over the past dozen to 15 years but such facts would never matter to these irrational environmental sycophants.

*  LOCAL MUSLIMS ASK FOR PROTECTION  -  In an extreme effort to overplay a situation, the local Muslim community has asked law enforcement for protection given Representative John Bennett’s warning about the existing danger to the American way of life resulting from the aggressive growth of fundamentalist Muslims in our society. Meanwhile, in his home county he received a standing ovation from a crowd of about a 100 for his brave stand and willingness to tell it like it is.

Bennett is certainly not calling for violence against Muslims. Let me suggest, we should profile, opps I guess we are supposed to act stupid and not do that, the most likely candidates for violence against Americans. What we need to do is revoke the passports for those single non-citizen Muslim males between the ages of 17 to 39 and force them to return to their countries of origin. That is the age group that fit’s the profile of the most likely to resort to violence against Americans.

Of course securing our borders would be vital to keeping potential terrorists out of our states and neighborhoods. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be enough of those in Washington willing to take such a position.

*  WILL REPUBLICANS PICK UP SENATE OR SHOOT THEMSELVES IN THE FOOT?  -  I certainly believe the Republicans will pick up some seats in the U.S. Senate this year, the question is will it be enough to take control of the Senate? I believe it could be very close to a several member majority. Besides winning those 6 necessary seats, Republicans can’t afford to lose any incumbent seats. However, it looks like Kansas might loose a Republican incumbent. Kansas is a red state, however, the majority of Republican voters didn’t want their current incumbent sent back to Washington. Unfortunately, because of Kansas’ voting laws, no run-off was allowed and now the principled Republicans may not vote for the establishment, liberal incumbent? Establishment types just can’t understand such a protest by principled Republican voters, but the establishment types never can understand principled voters. Stay tuned.

I look forward to seeing everyone this Wednesday.
