Monsanto’s Roundup, Creating Superweeds, Killing Butterflies and Raising Serious Health Concerns

In less than 2 decades, the overuse of Monsanto’s number one selling weedkiller Roundup has created a dangerous scenario for America’s farmers. With the rise of superweeds across more than 70 million acres of U.S. farmland, farmers have been faced with the loss of crop yields by 50 to 70% in some fields, forced to spend millions of dollars, resorting to hand weeding, and even plowing under some fields when the assault of superweeds became too advanced.

Every year, more than 200 million pounds of Monsanto’s toxic weedkiller Roundup are sprayed on more than 160 million acres of GMO corn and soybean fields across America. Planting Monsanto’s GMOs resistant to Roundup on such a massive scale has wiped out more than 80% of the native milkweed across the Midwest, which has been attributed to the plumetting population of Monarch butterflies to alarming levels.

The problem with Roundup is that it doesn’t just spawn superweeds and kill butterflies, but the fact that an increasing number of studies have shown that Roundup is linked to serious human health problems including birth defects, infertility, allergies, liver disease and auto-immune disorders.
