FLL Community:
7 items for you:  SlingShot movie, Donations, Thank you,  Info about championships and more.

1) Playing At Learning is thrilled to announce that we will be hosting the Northern California premiere of the movie, SlingShot at The Play Space in San Jose.  SlingShot focuses on FIRST founder, Dean Kamen, and his 15-year quest to solve the world's water crisis. We hope that you can join us as well as invite someone new to FIRST!

2)  Please keep Playing At Learning in mind as you review your end of year charity donations.  We need help in keeping The Play Space doors open as well as better support and manage the team growth that all 3 of our programs are experiencing.  We are an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) charity and donations are tax deductible.   Donate link to accept paypal/checks -  or you can give as part of a recurring Network For Good donation or Global Giving campaign  or Razoo's Giving Tuesday.

3)  Congratulations and a big thank you to the entire FLL Community -  we have made it through another record QT season with 532 NorCal FLL teams and 28 qualifiers.

4) We don't yet have confirmed dates for any of the championships but are talking with sites to get confirmed dates... We are looking at only January/February dates.  Unless something unforeseen happens, we will be returning to Inderkum HS for the Capital Championship,  Aragon HS for the Peninsula Championship and Sobrato HS for the Silicon Valley Championship.  All information about NorCal Championships is at http://championship.norcalfll.org

5)  We were recently told that our long time championship lead sponsor is not likely to be supporting local events instead opting for national level FIRST sponsorship.  No other sponsors (or even leads for new sponsors) have come forward, so we will need to increase the Championship Registration amount to $225.   We are not happy about this but really need everyone's help in securing sponsorshipsMore info about Playing At Learning.

6)  Lottery team lists now posted to fill each championshipThe number of advancing teams (ACE Teams) from each district does not quite fill that respective championship.  Working with FIRST on the best way to resolve, we opted to do a lottery of the teams from judges based on the same advancement criteria as all other teams.   We needed to add between 1 and 6 teams in each district.

7)  As previously noted, the Peninsula Championship will be 36 teams and the Silicon Valley and Capital Championships will be 48 teams. This allowed an advancing rate of ~30% in each district.

Finally, if you don't see the links embedded in items #1, 2 5, and 6, you should visit the group's home page at https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/norcalfll-announce  to get the links.

Regards,
     Jill
