News and upcoming activities for NorCal FLL community 2/16/2017

1) Congratulations to all of our teams – we have finished the official NorCal FLL Season.  We have several upcoming post season opportunities.

•  Playing At Learning Celebrates FIRST happens March 4&5  at San Francisco’s iHangar: - a celebration of innovation and FIRST.  
  

• NorCal FLL Innovation Expo:  We are accepting self-nominations along with the “Innovation Candidate” teams nominated from November     Reg Form & Pay. 
  

• NorCal FLL Cup  (post season competition) – March 4 at San Francisco’s iHangar:   If needed, we will give preference to registered teams that did not attend a qualifier this season.  Reg Form & Pay.
  

• Bay Area Maker’s Faire demo opportunities – May 19-21 stay tuned for more details

• Weekly FLL Youth Summer Camps at The Play Space in San Jose June-August.  Registration details will be posted on theplayspace.org by early March

• Congratulations to all of the teams representing Northern California at World Festival and Invitational tournaments.

• Animal Allies FLL championship rubrics have NOT been mailed yet - will start reviewing / mailing soon
  

2) Aging out of FLL?  Interested in learning more about FIRST Tech Challenge and/or FIRST Robotics Competition? 

• NorCal FIRST Tech Challenge Championship this weekend at Newark Memorial HS.  A great way to learn more is to volunteer as a judge or similar key role! We still need many volunteers on Saturday (team judging and robot inspectors) as well as Sunday (all roles).   Learn more about volunteering
  

• FIRST Robotics Competition - Regional Tournaments coming up! Best days to visit:  Central Valley 3/11-3/12,  San Francisco 3/18-3/19, Sacramento 3/24-3/25, Silicon Valley 3/31-4/1
  

3) 2017 HYDRO DYNAMICS FLL Team Registration opens in early May !

4) Playing At Learning has several openings including a FIRST AmeriCorps VISTA!   

5) Playing At Learning is expanding its Board of Directors and we are seeking adults that are passionate about FIRST programs and is interested in contributing at a strategic level as Playing At Learning evolves to handle the team growth.  Questions - feel free to email f...@playingatlearning.org
